Amazing Bridges from Around the World

These were submitted anonymously without any further information, so, let the process of naming them begin! A few are easily recognizable but many are quite obscure and a few may even be the product of rendering programs. Still, if you know, chime in!

  1. One of these bridges is not like the other… ’cause it is an aqueduct.

  2. I would love to see captions on these fabulous photos showing where they are located.
    Great pictures!

  3. well, this is worldwide correct? You have not seen a gorgeous bridge, UNLESS you have seen O’Connell Bridge, In Sitka Alaska.

None Of These Bridges has enough charisma to say they have more than Sitka’s Bridge

  4. number 2 isn’t a bridge but a aquaduct

  5. Hi,

Thanks for posting these great photos.
They are not only about great works of construction/art, but are also well taken.

    Kind regards,

    Jose

  6. what about the confederation bridge that joins prince edward island and new brunswick. longest bridge over ice. 12.9 km long

  7. Wow, some excellent bridges there, I think there are 3 photos of bristol suspension bridge tho!!

  8. oh wow, beautiful pictures :)

  9. Absolutely amazing pics. Thanks for these. Do you have a list of where all of these were taken. Some are obvious, but it’d be nice to know where all of them are.

  10. why the hell isn’t the ponte vecchio on there?

  11. Where is Newcastle’s Tyne Bridge? I’m Upset! ;)

  12. WHy two pictures of the Golden gate Bridge?

  13. most of these aren’t really amazing so much as good photographs.

  14. I believe the third one down is an aquaduct, not a bridge; impressive nonetheless.

  15. FIRST!

  16. You have 3 photos of the same bridge! The Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England.

  17. Although many of these bridges are amazing, about 1/3 of them are not, but only the camera angle that they are taken from give the illusion of amazingness. If taken from a plain bird’s eye view or horizontal view, many of these bridges would lose the illusion of amazingness that they have in those angles.

  18. very nice.
I can see two of them from my apartment (I think)… at least 1 of them for sure.

  19. You forgot the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA. It totally belongs on this list.

  20. Holy mother of Abe Lincon.

  21. You’ve included the Clifton suspension bridge (http://www.clifton-suspension-bridge.org.uk/) in Bristol 3 times.

  22. that’s inpresive

  23. Number three looks like an Aquaduct to me. Not a bridge.

  24. 1- Would have been much more useful with captions.
2- Third one down is an aqueduct, not a bridge.
3- What is really amazing is that this does not include the huge Millau in France or one of the 2 bridges in Istanbul that connect Europe to Asia, just to name a couple…

  25. you have the clifton suspension bridge on here 3 times…

    SO its 30 amazing bridges…

  26. Lol, one’s not a bridge, it’s an aqueduct.

  27. does anyone know where the bridge over the waterfall is? its one of the pics in the middle after the space age one. it looks oddly familiar…

  28. wow…. that is quite amazing. love it love it

  29. No Tower Bridge? Disappointing.

  30. i sat with these for a few moments, in reverence and awe. Thank you.

  31. Um Dude, cool pix but I think the third one is actually an aqueduct, it is used to carry water, not transport people.

  32. W.O.W.! Very beautiful places. Nice pictures!

  33. well there’s 40 pictures, so if u subtract the duplicates and the non-bridges, and the ones that aren’t amazing, maybe you get 32!

  34. Number 10 down is Seddon bridge from the South Island of New Zealand.
I drove over it the other day coming back from a road trip, and it’s being replaced by a two lane bridge as it’s on the main road through New Zealand and causes major traffic congestion.

It’s not actually that impressive in real life, either, apart from the steel supports etc it’s just a rickety crap old bridge. The camera angle makes for a cool photograph however.

  35. Image 8 is the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney, Australia.
Images 11 and 24 are the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, USA.
Image 12 is the Puente de San Martin in Toledo, Spain.
Image 21 is the Seven Mile Bridge connecting Knight’s Key to Little Duck Key in the Florida Keys, USA.
Image 22 is the Millennium Bridge, London, UK.

  36. Where is Bosphorus Bridge connecting Asia to Europe in Istanbul?

  37. One bridge is down there twice.

  38. How typical is this? a wonderful post with remarkable images, and we have carping, tiny-minded ASSHOLES bitching about ‘you didn’t include this and HOW DARE YOU repeat images’.
    GAWD.

  39. I agree with Arthur: the bridge at Millau should have been among them and the Pont du Gare is an aquaduct. But it is a bridge as well, check for example wikipedia on that.
I do miss a Dutch bridge among them, like the Erasmusbrug (looks kinda like the fourth one down).

  40. The one in front of a waterfall is from Multnomah Falls near Portland, Oregon. The view is pretty spectacular. The bridge itself, not so much.

  41. an aqueduct is a “bridge” : Definition (dictionary.com) 1. a structure spanning and providing passage over a river, chasm, road, or the like.. If you wanna transport water OVER land then you use a water bridge i.e. aqueduct just like a square IS a type of rectangle.

  42. Nice Bridge Photos! Too bad you left out the greatest bridge of all time, the George Washington Bridge. If it were not for the GWB and Othmar Ammann the Swiss Engineer who designed and built the bridge, all other bridges around the world would NOT have been possible. Please check out my website of extensive photographs of New York;s great bridges. Cheers

  43. Yes, it’s true – one is an aqueduct, some notables are not there, there are some shown more than once. All trvial remarks – the web is better off with this page than without it – you’ve assembled a collection of bridge pictures that communicate a love of the structure itself beautifully. Nice work!

  44. thanks for these great pictures, bridges are not only something useful, they are a kind of trip for the mind, a leap, a knot, some clue, don’t know, very interesting

  45. No 7 is Capilano Suspension Bridge, North Vancouver, BC, Canada

  46. I’ve actually been on 6 of those. Very cool stuff!
