The Alcázar of Segovia (literally “Segovia Castle”) is a stone fortification, located in the old city of Segovia, Spain. It is one of the most distinctive castle-palaces in Spain by virtue of its shape - like the bow of a ship. The Alcázar was originally built as a fortress but has served as a royal palace, a state prison, a Royal Artillery College and a military academy since then.

Julia Fullerton-Batten is a brilliant photographer for an eye for awkward. By placing her subjects in surrealistic situations and blowing them out of scale she manages to make it seem like they are incredibly out of place. Moreover she plays up this strangeness by placing them in all kinds of situations, from ordinary everyday situations to bizarre and tragic ones.

No two snowflakes are alike, they say, but how many people set up to actually prove it? Well, these images show up close just how amazingly different each little snowflake truly is. Poetic or just pretty, there is no more doubting that each snowflake really is unique.
